So good I stayed home to read it for 4 days
This book spoke directly to me. I read it first in the mid 1980's, so much of the contents is now irretrievable, but I wanted to let other shoppers know how much this book helped me. I am so happy to find it again.

The Prostate Cancer Answer Book: An Unbiased Guide to Treatment Choices
Published in Paperback by Avon (September, 1996)
Authors: Marion E. Morra, Eve Potts, Hilda R. Muinos, and Vincent De Vita
Average review score:

The Prostate Cancer Answer Book
I am a Cancer Information Specialist for the Cancer Information Service of the National Cancer Institute. We are the well-known 800 4 CANCER hotline number. We use this book every day on the phones with patients and family members. Because I use it so much I have probably read it (in bits and pieces) twenty times. It is fabulous and very readable. It has an easy-to-read question and answer format. It answers question like "Will the biopsy spread my cancer?" and "Where can I get proton beam therapy?" and seemingly every other question a prostate cancer patient might have. If you have prostate cancer then BUY THIS BOOK and read it entirely before making any treatment decisions. This very inexesive book is
one of the best investments you will every make.
Please note that I have no connection to this book or the authors or the publishing company and am making this review without anyone having asked me to and of course without any kind of compensation at all. I just love this incredibly useful book. Also note that this is a my personal review and is not meant to reflect in any way the opinions of the Cancer Information Service or the National Cancer Institute.

Pushing the Envelope: The Career of Fighter Ace and Test Pilot Marion Carl
Published in Hardcover by United States Naval Inst. (April, 1994)
Authors: Marion E. Carl and Barrett Tillman
Average review score:

Posthumous thoughts on Marion Carl
By a quirk of incredibly bad timing, Naval Institute Press declared Marion's memoir out of print the same week he was killed in June 1998. The sudden nature of his death created an instant demand for the book, but NIP had neglected to inform the Carl family or me (his coauthor) that the book would be unavailable. We are, however, seeking another publisher and hope to have the story of this incredible aviator and exceptional man available again.

Putting on the Mind of Christ: The Inner Work of Christian Spirituality
Published in Paperback by Hampton Roads Pub Co (October, 2002)
Authors: Jim Marion and Ken Wilber
Average review score:

Great Book to Read
This was the first book about Christian spirituality I read that went beyond the common ideas I had been exposed to in churches growing up (I am 21). It was amazing to read about some of the things I had been feeling/desiring or just been curious about: spiritual growth and development, transformation of my life by Christ and what that might entail, meditation, and even mysticism. I realized I didn't know what mysticism meant and that I needlessly characterized it as a suspect or hippie-dippy type thing.
I come from a semi-conservative background, and some things Marion wrote about didn't connect with me at all, but at the same time so many did. I think he's right on the target when he says we all have plenty of work to do to achieve inner growth, and that the overall goal is to love like Jesus did. It seemed to me that in this book, Marion put forth an honest and informed blueprint to what the path might look like. Overall it was characterized by sincere compassion and love for people, which I think is its strongest attribute. It was also rooted in the Bible, which was cool.
Definitely give it a read! Borrow it from a friend if you don't want to buy it. It changed the way I think about Christianity and provided many examples of saints, mature Christians, and even "spiritual masters" (as he put it) from other religions to look into. Good stuff!

Racewalking
Published in Paperback by Stephen Greene Pr (May, 1985)
Authors: William Finley and Marion Weinstein
Average review score:

From a phantom to a race walker
I found the book, Racewalking, to be a wonderful introduction to the pulse quickening world of racewalking.

To be honest, besides wanting to get into shape through racewalking, I bought the book because of William Finley, the co-author. Why? Go rent Brian DePalma's 1975 movie, The Phantom of the Paradise, which Mr. Finley starred in. He was fantastic in that movie as the Phantom, and equally as wonderful as an author that introduced me to the sport of racewalking.

Reaching Your Potential: Personal and Professional Development
Published in Paperback by Delmar Learning (07 August, 1998)
Authors: Robert K. Throop and Marion B. Castellucci
Average review score:

Reaching Your Potential
Many people advocate life long learning and the process of reaching your full potential, but generally no one knows how to do that. This book is designed for individuals from middle school to retirement age and provides them with step by step assessments, worksheets and exercises to reach their potential.

This book is broken down in five subject topics, and fifteen chapters to provide an easy systematic approach to personal and professional development. The five subject matters are: Developing Your Potential in Emotional, Intellectual, Physical and Social realms with the fifth unit entitled Developing Your Action Plan.

This book has been wonderful in meeting the needs of four different educational and training areas. First as a personal self help book. Second as a textbook for a college level one-hour class entitled Professional Image Development offered through the Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. Third as an in-house book for career and personal growth seminars within private industry. And fourth, as a resource book, accessible to all employees, checked out from a Corporate Learning Center library.

The book does not have religious growth. The authors state that religious growth is outside the realm of the book. This makes the book perfect for the diverse workforce and student population.

The book does have a companion guide for instructors: Reaching Your Potential, an Instructor's Guide.
